What is Down payment assistance?

Down payment assistance is money to help cover your down payment and closing costs—paired with a 30-year fixed mortgage.

How much help?

Choose 2%–5% of your loan amount as a grant (FHA/VA/USDA) or a 3-year forgivable second lien (all loan types).

Who Qualifies? 

Texas homebuyers using the home as their primary residence. Typical minimum credit: 620–640+ depending on loan type.

Does my area qualify?

Check county income limits and if your property is in a Targeted Area (often higher limits).

What is the process?

Get pre-approved → take a quick homebuyer class → choose your DPA option → close on your home.

Bonus: Tax Credit (MCC)

Some buyers can add a Mortgage Credit Certificate for an annual federal tax credit (can’t combine with Bond DPA).
